Dingle Film Walks is a singular 5-star, bespoke experience. Expert hiker and award-winning film industry expert, Maurice Galway takes guests on a unique hiking adventure to discover authentic film locations on the breathtaking Dingle Peninsula. With over 30 years of welcoming actors, directors and industry experts to Kerry, Maurice’s backstories and inside knowledge make for a very special experience.You will be joining award-winning filmmaker and industry expert Maurice Galway on this breathtaking guided loop walk in Dún Chaoin, with stunning views overlooking The Blasket Islands. There is also a Sun Set Walk option.
You will be on location to Ryan’s Daughters The Village (optional), Schoolhouse, Barracks and Bus Stop; take in the magnificent Cean Sibeal, Star Wars: The Last Jedi; and Clogher Head, Far and Away. Accompanied by Maurice’s own in-depth knowledge of both film and the landscape, come to understand why this Peninsula continues to enchant the movie industry since its birth as a prime film location in 1968. Discover what has captivated so many for so long!
Maurice has invited and welcomed actors, filmmakers, animators and other industry experts to Kerry, sharing the stunning Dingle Peninsula with them. Amongst them: Laura Dern, Maureen O’Hara, Cillian Murphy, Gabriel Byrne, Saoirse Ronan, Stephen Frears, Sir Alan Parker, Jim Sheridan, Andrew Loog Oldman (Manager of The Rolling Stones ‘63-67) and Gregory Peck’s Family. When he brought the infamous Beatles Anthology Director, Geoff Wonfor here, Wonfor was so captivated he made a feature film ‘We’ll Always Have Dingle’.
Unique Selling point
This is a one-of-a-kind walk and unique to the Dingle Peninsula.
Maurice is an experienced hillwalker and guide but he has the unique combination of this, as well as a background in the film and festival sector.
He has spent his career building and running Festivals for Film and Animation; he has welcomed guests from all over the world, bringing them to Dingle and to Kerry. He has made films himself and his own feature film ‘Yellow Man Grey Man’ has been broadcast internationally on Sky Arts and nationally on RTÉ Television. His films have been exhibited internationally in London, New York and China.
Having established and run the Kerry Film Festival, he then went on to establish the Dingle International Film Festival which ran from 2007-2019 and is Founder and Director of the hugely successful Animation Dingle which takes place annually in March.
