Culture Night on the Dingle Peninsula

Culture is catching with venues and public spaces across the island of Ireland as they open their doors to host a programme of free late-night entertainment, as part of an all-island celebration of arts, heritage and culture.

Now in its thirteenth year, Culture Night returns on Friday, 21st of September, 2018.

Each year the arts community of the Dingle Peninsula, gather to create a special evening, with a diverse range of cultural events and activities, supported by Kerry County Council Arts Office, and Ealain na Gaeltachta.

‘Bernadette: Notes On A Political Journey’  - McCarthys Bar, Dingle, 8pm - 10pm

A screening of a documentary by Irish filmmaker and campaigner Lelia Doolan revisits the life of Bernadette Devlin McAliskey, a civil rights leader from Tyrone, Bernadette was elected to Westminster when she was 21 years old. A screening of the documentary starts at 8pm, followed by a Q&A session afterwards with special guests, Lelia Doolan (director/producer), Gordan Bruic (co-director/editor), lead by Aodh Ó Coileáin (an Taidbhdhearc Theatre). Eachtra Ealaíne/An Art Adventure - Dingle, 8.45pm - 10:30pm

Turas mistéireach draíochtúil atá beartaithe ag An Lab i gcomhair le Féile na Bealtaine daoibh do Oíche Chultúir na bliana seo le ealaín is ceol úrnua in ionad rúnda/A magical mystery tour featuring a feast of new visual art and exciting music in a secret venue not far from Dingle. Lantern @ An Díseart -  An Díseart, Green Street, Dingle, 7pm - 9:30pm

In 2006 Sráid Eoin Wren made a lantern in the Swiss style of painted cloth stretched on a wooden frame. They brought it, with their costumes and particular style of music to the streets of Basel during Fasnacht. On Culture night, join us as we come together and share the art of making lanterns.
