Civil Ceremonies
Religious
marriage ceremonies can be celebrated in a number of historic Roman Catholic or
Church of Ireland (Anglican) churches. Recent changes in legislation mean that
civil marriages can be held in other venues such as guesthouses and hotels.
Since 2007 it has been possible for civil marriages to be held in venues other
than a registry office provided the venue has been inspected and approved by the Health Services Executive
"in advance of marriage ceremony and subject to the registrar being available
to solemnise a marriage at the venue on the date in question".
