Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif April 23 - 25

The Dingle Peninsula is delighted to welcome the Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif again in 2018. The Sportif is made up of 16 exhilarating stages along the Wild Atlantic Way and will be broken down into 4 blocks of 4 stages apiece.

At 2,152 km, the full route is pretty long and most people won’t be able to take all that time away from family and work so the route is broken into 4 blocks to make things more manageable for cyclists.



SPRING SPORTIF: 20th April - 8th May 2018

AUTUMN SPORTIF 8th-26th September 2018

Who is this event aimed at?

The Spring event is geared towards domestic and international club cyclists who want to kick start their summer season with some of Ireland’s classic climbs and use the Sportif as a training camp to give you that competitive edge in your summer season.

There are different packages based on whether you do the full tour, multi stages, or single day stage. Whatever your plan, they have it covered. With details such as bike rental, luggage transfers, return transfer to your starting Host Town, roadside assistance vehicles and experienced motor bike marshalling, bike mechanics, even massage services, the Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif has though it out, so all you have to do is arrive and pedal!

The Sportif is Ireland’s only fully supported multi-stage sportif where nothing is overlooked but the sea!


Block 1 / Stage 4:

Monday 23rd April 2018  - 171km, Sneem to Dingle

The Spring Sportif, sees the cyclists and support team depart Sneem at 8am and 9am, and ride the winding roads of South Kerry through the Portmagee and Castlemaine, and onto our beautiful peninsula. Taking in villages such as Boolteens, Keel, Inch and Lispole before arriving in Dingle town.

Tuesday 24th April 2018 - Rest Day in Host Town

Dingle is honoured to be one of the Host towns on the wild Atlantic Way cucle Sportif, which meands the cyclists get to spend one day of rest, before departing on Stage 5 of the cycle. There are lots of activities and attractions for the cyclists to enjoy, both in the town, and in the surrounding countryside.

Block 2 / Stage 5:

Wednesday 25th April 2018 - 114km Dingle - Tralee

Wednesday morning sees the cyclists depart Dingle town, but not the peninsula. The Sportif, will head out on the famous Slea Head Drive. Cycling the beautiful old roads of Dunquin, past the Blasket Islands, through the village of Ballyferriter, then back through Dingle town, before a challanging route up the Conor Pass. Once over the Pass, the cyclists will be taking a lunch break in Cloghane. They will then depart Cloghane, and ride the beautiful North Shore to Tralee.
