Whale Watch Ireland 2014

This event forms part of All-Ireland Whale Watch day, which invites the public and visitors alike to join the experts from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group for a free and guided land-based whale watch at a local headland.

You should dress appropriately for the weather on the day and leave your pets at home. Please note there are no boat trips and all watches are land-based. There are of course no guarantees of sightings. There may be a short walk from the meeting point to the actual watch site.

Brandon Regatta
Regatta Bhréainn

Photo by Tony Godfrey The Brandon Regatta is the last rowing contest of the summer and is held in late August every year. Boat races take place from the village's fishing pier.

The event is also marked by music, song and festivities in the local pubs and on the village's waterfront.

Ancient Pottery Demonstration / Potadóireacht Réamhstairiúil
Visitors will see the production of Neolithic pottery, and have the opportunity to produce some decorated pots of their own as a souvenir, using ancient methods and designs. As well as the production of new items, there will be a range of replica artefacts on display for visitors to observe and discuss, and in some cases, handle and inspect.

Dingle Marathon
Maratón An Daingin

A half, full and 50 mile ultra marathon around the spectacular Dingle peninsula. This is a ‘must do’ race guaranteeing a once in a life time experience. Dingle Marathon is famous for its breath taking scenery and beautiful rugged coastline. Over 17 miles of the route is on or next to the sea. Dingle Town comes alive this weekend with an incredible atmosphere and craic guaranteed all weekend.

Camp Vintage Rally 2014

Camp Vintage Rally will be held at the Junction Bar, Camp. Events will include the Kerry Champion Turf Cutting Competition along with the usual display of vinatge tractors, cars, bikes and small machinery. There will be a tug-of-war and sheep dog trials along with many other fun events.

All proceeds are to go the Kerry Branch of the Irish Kidney Association.

Camp Sheep Fair

Reputed to be one of the oldest surviving sheep fairs in Ireland, the Camp Sheep Fair will be held on Thursday 18 September.

Sheep are held in pens on the roadside at Camp Cross and bargains are made and sheep sold as in bygone days. A sheep show is one of the highlights of the day and the mutton pie is a real speciality for sale in the pubs in the village all day long.

Music, song and dance in the pubs in the evening time will bring the day to an end.

Dingle Triathlon

Dingle Triathlon is set against the backdrop of the magnificent and rugged beauty of the Dingle Peninsula...
The event, based at Dingle Marina Co. Kerry, sees swimmers share the open water swim section with one of our more famous residents, Fungie the dolphin.
This is followed by a challenging cycle route that takes riders on a loop around the spectacular Slea Head, before returning to transition at the marina for the final run section on quiet back roads to the finish line in Dingle town…
