Féile Lúghnasa 2014

Lúghnasa is a Celtic harvest festival that dates back 2,000 years. Revived in 1995, the Festival features music, children’s activities, stage dramas as well as many local traditions, including sheep shearing, a blessing of the boats at Brandon Pier, and a pilgrimage to the summit of Mount Brandon.

Activities throughout the four days feature a poker tournament, swimming races, fancy dress, sandcastle-building competition, kayaking, music by The High Kings, a stage drama that is created annually for the festival, several hill walks, and plenty of other activities to delight the whole family.

Féile Lios Póil is a community festival which takes place in the parish of Lios Póil, every August bank holiday weekend.

Annascaul Beerfest

The community and publicans of Annascaul, Co. Kerry are inviting all to the 7th annual Annascaul Beerfest which will be held in the village on August Bank Holiday Weekend 1 – 3 August.

The festival has grown over the last 6 years and this year we will again be hosting the event between Friday and Sunday. The 2013 event raised €4,200 for Acquired Brain Injury Ireland and €1,000 for local Annascaul groups.

2014 will see donations being made to Kerry Cancer Support Group and 2014 will see the launch of both on-line donating and on-line purchasing.

We are delighted to announce that Mundy will perform this year on Saturday August 2nd 2014.

Photograph by Mossie Donegan A two-day programme of highly competitive races displaying the skill and expertise of the boat men and women of Corca Dhuibhne and further afield in Dingle Harbour.

Competitors from West Kerry are joined by crews from the Maharees, Brandon and as far away as Donegal and Clare at this annual event.

Whale Watch Ireland 2014

This event forms part of All-Ireland Whale Watch day, which invites the public and visitors alike to join the experts from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group for a free and guided land-based whale watch at a local headland.

You should dress appropriately for the weather on the day and leave your pets at home. Please note there are no boat trips and all watches are land-based. There are of course no guarantees of sightings. There may be a short walk from the meeting point to the actual watch site.

Brandon Regatta
Regatta Bhréainn

Photo by Tony Godfrey The Brandon Regatta is the last rowing contest of the summer and is held in late August every year. Boat races take place from the village's fishing pier.

The event is also marked by music, song and festivities in the local pubs and on the village's waterfront.

Ancient Pottery Demonstration / Potadóireacht Réamhstairiúil
Visitors will see the production of Neolithic pottery, and have the opportunity to produce some decorated pots of their own as a souvenir, using ancient methods and designs. As well as the production of new items, there will be a range of replica artefacts on display for visitors to observe and discuss, and in some cases, handle and inspect.

Dingle Marathon
Maratón An Daingin

A half, full and 50 mile ultra marathon around the spectacular Dingle peninsula. This is a ‘must do’ race guaranteeing a once in a life time experience. Dingle Marathon is famous for its breath taking scenery and beautiful rugged coastline. Over 17 miles of the route is on or next to the sea. Dingle Town comes alive this weekend with an incredible atmosphere and craic guaranteed all weekend.

Dingle Triathlon

Dingle Triathlon is set against the backdrop of the magnificent and rugged beauty of the Dingle Peninsula...
The event, based at Dingle Marina Co. Kerry, sees swimmers share the open water swim section with one of our more famous residents, Fungie the dolphin.
This is followed by a challenging cycle route that takes riders on a loop around the spectacular Slea Head, before returning to transition at the marina for the final run section on quiet back roads to the finish line in Dingle town…
