Blasket Island Ferries

Passenger ferries operate from the mainland to the Great Blasket Island during the Spring, Summer and Autumn, weather permitting. Ferries may be boarded at the Marina in Dingle Town (a 40 minute trip) or at Dún Chaoin Pier opposite the island (20 minutes).

Blasket Islands Ferry and Eco Marine Adventure Tours

Leaving from the traditional departure point of Dún Chaoin (Dunquin), 15km west of Dingle (An Daingean), the Great Blasket Island is a short 20 min boat trip from the mainland.

Our ferries Blasket Princess and An Blascaod Mór depart Dunquin every day from Easter to October (weather depending) at:

for the Great Blasket Island where you can spend a few hours or the day walking, hiking, swimming, visiting the old village, painting, taking phptos or just relaxing and enjoying the wonderful landscapes and stunning seascapes.

We also offer a 2.5hr
Eco Marine Adventure Tour,
leaving Dunquin at 12.00 and 15.00hrs (sharp).
This boat trip brings you on an unforgettable tour around the Blasket Island Archipelago with its remote islands. You have the possibility of catching glimpses of whales and dolphins, basking sharks and seals as well as observing our abundant marine bird life, comprising puffins, gannets, kittiwakes, fulmars, choughs and many more.

You can combine a visit to the Island with our Eco Marine Adventure Tour. Either take the regular ferry service and get picked up from the island for the tour, or take the tour and then get dropped off at the island for an hour or two.

From Dingle

Dingle Bay Charters Blasket Island Ferry

Take a fast (40 Minute) ferry from Dingle Marina to the Great Blasket Island.
Watch out for Fungie the dolphin at the entrance to Dingle Harbour, then sit back and soak in the scenery as you round Slea Head and approach the Blasket Island.

The island evacuated in 1953, was home to many famous Irish writers including Peig Sayers.

Walk the 1100 acres of unspoilt largely mountainous terrain, relax on the beautiful beach or explore the abandoned village and the fascinating cultural and literary history of the island.
