Stand Up Paddle Boarding SUP on the Dingle Peninsula

stand up paddle boarding at the Maharees Dingle Peninsula

Stand Up Paddle Boarding or SUP is the fastest- growing water sport in the world and a really fun way to get out on the water and enjoy nature. A combination of kayaking and surfing, you stand on your board and with a single paddle propel yourself through the water.

Paddle boarding is a fun way to play on the water, with the added benefit of a full-body workout. The sport is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels and with only a little instruction, most beginners can stand up and start paddling shortly after taking a SUP out for the very first time. Standing at full height on your board, you get a unique vantage point for viewing what’s under the water and the spectacular scenery.

The calm, flat water of Dingle Harbour is a great place for total beginners. Activity providers offer lessons and guided SUP tours. Depending on weather conditions they can bring you to cliffs and sea caves, to see wildlife including Fungi or to the spectacular headland of Ceann Sibéal.They supply all equipment needed including wetsuits so all you have to do is get out there and enjoy yourself!

More Info

Stand Up Paddle boarding tours are a great non-invasive way to explore the environment. There are different tours available such as exploring the marine environment in the company of an ecologist, dusk tours of Dingle Harbour where you might meet the resident dolphin Fungi or trips to the spectacular headland of Ceann Sibéal.

Stand Up Paddle boarding tours are available from local activity providers who will provide all equipment such as wetsuits and boards and a qualified instructor. These tours are safe, fun and accessible to anyone willing to try. All you need to bring is water, sun screen, a towel, your swim suit and yourself.

As with all water activities SUP tours are dependent on weather conditions so keep in contact with your activity provider before a planned trip.
